Cultivated garden flower for over 300 years. The plant has rounded umbels of delightful, star-shaped bright scarlet flowers and is easy to grow. The brilliant scarlet flowers of Maltese Cross are very eye catching in the garden, and this brilliant scarlet bloom attracts butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.
Grows best in full sun and in any good soil, if provided with a constant moisture supply. The blooming period is extended if faded flowers are removed.
The plant is an excellent cut flower.
